A NotebookLM Chrome extension for adding sources in bulk

source-lm is a third-party Chrome and Edge extension that adds sources to NotebookLM (Gemini Notebook) in bulk: a YouTube playlist or channel, a Telegram or Discord chat export or any JSON dataset split into sources, a Notion page with its subpages, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Perplexity conversations as transcripts, and web pages or whole link lists. Single sources and 5 bulk actions a month are free; $29 once unlocks unlimited bulk actions, with no subscription. It runs inside the NotebookLM session you are already signed into — no account of ours, no server of ours.

Google publishes no extension of its own, and NotebookLM takes one source at a time: paste, wait, paste again.

Also on Edge Add-ons. $29 once for unlimited bulk actions — no subscription. Source-available and shipped unminified — read the code.

The source-lm popup on its YouTube tab: the videos collected from the page, each with a checkbox and a thumbnail, above a notebook picker and an Add to notebook button.

Three inputs, one click each

01

YouTube, from YouTube

“Add to notebook” buttons on the watch page, the playlist panel, the playlist page and the channel header. A playlist goes in with one click, each video its own source; on a channel you set how many of the newest videos to take, 50 by default. The four buttons.

02

A JSON export, split into sources

A Telegram chat export, a ticket dump, any array of records: the popup splits it into Markdown files packed to a word budget under NotebookLM's per-source limit, shows the exact files first, and re-running later uploads only what is new. The Telegram walkthrough.

03

Pages, links and selections

The active tab, a pasted link, or a list of links, one per line; selected text on any page from the right-click menu. A Notion page goes in from a button in Notion’s own top bar, with one level of its subpages if you want them. Nothing is written to disk — the files are built in memory and pushed into the open notebook. Notion, page and subpages.

None of them, source-lm included, lifts NotebookLM's own cap of 50 sources per notebook on the free plan, 100 on Plus, 300 on Pro and 500 or 600 on Ultra, or 500,000 words per source — see NotebookLM limits per plan.

When to pick something else

  • Pages, open tabs and RSS feeds, cheaply: NotebookLM Web Importer at $19 a year — the most-installed extension in this category, with inputs we do not have.
  • Everything free, plus export and folders: NotebookLM Tools. Bulk import is on its free tier; source-lm meters bulk at 5 a month.
  • Chat archiving across many AI sites, sync between devices and exports: Kortex — a cloud service on a subscription, with no lifetime plan.
  • Papers from PubMed and arXiv, or tab audio: ExtendLM.
  • Only YouTube, paid monthly or yearly: YouTube to NotebookLM.

Pick source-lm for volume from one place — a playlist, a channel, a chat export split under the per-source word cap, re-runs that add only what is new — with no account and no cloud in the loop. It has no RSS, no open-tabs import, no PDF upload, no folders and no export out of a notebook. The full roundup, sorted by job: Best NotebookLM Chrome extensions in 2026.

  • YouTube to NotebookLM in bulk

Every button the extension adds inside YouTube, what NotebookLM keeps from a video, and what counts as one bulk action.

  • Telegram export to NotebookLM

JSON from Telegram Desktop or HTML from the macOS app, split into Markdown sources with a cursor so a later export adds only new messages.

  • Notion page and subpages to NotebookLM

The button in Notion’s top bar, what it does on your own workspace versus a public notion.site, and how far down the page tree it reaches.

  • NotebookLM for studying

Getting sources in

Research & study

01What is the best NotebookLM Chrome extension in 2026?

It depends on the input. For single pages, tabs and RSS, NotebookLM Web Importer or the free tier of NotebookLM Tools; for export and folders, NotebookLM Tools or Kortex; for a whole YouTube channel, a Telegram, Discord or JSON export, a Notion page tree or AI chat transcripts in bulk with no account and no cloud, source-lm — 5 bulk actions a month free, $29 once for unlimited. The full roundup, with prices.

02What is a good Kortex alternative for bulk import into NotebookLM?

If what you need is volume into a notebook rather than a chat archive, source-lm: a YouTube channel or playlist in one click, a chat export split into sources, $29 once instead of $59 a year, and no backend holding your data. Kortex still wins on breadth — more chat sites, CSV and RSS import, exports, and sync across devices.

03Is there an alternative to NotebookLM Web Importer that imports in bulk for free?

Web Importer's free tier is 20 page imports a day; playlists, tabs and RSS need Premium at $19 a year or $39 once. NotebookLM Tools puts bulk import on its free tier. source-lm gives 5 bulk actions a month free and adds what Web Importer does not advertise: JSON and Telegram exports and whole YouTube channels. Web Importer, checked.

04How do I add more than 50 sources to NotebookLM?

Not in one notebook on the free plan: NotebookLM caps it at 50 sources, 100 on Plus, 300 on Pro and 500 or 600 on Ultra, and no extension lifts that. What an extension changes is how many clicks it takes to fill the cap, and how much fits in each source — a JSON export packed into files of up to 400,000 words each, under the 500,000-word per-source limit. NotebookLM limits per plan.

05Does it still work now that NotebookLM is Gemini Notebook?

Yes. Google renamed NotebookLM to Gemini Notebook on July 16, 2026 — same product, same notebooks, new name. The extension works in it, and both names appear on this site because both are still in use. Google's announcement.

06What is free, and what costs money?

Single sources — one page, one link, one video, one selection — are free and unmetered, and so is deleting sources. Bulk actions, meaning one click that adds more than one source, are capped at 5 a calendar month on the free tier and reset on the 1st. $29 once lifts the cap for good; there is no subscription.

07Where do the requests go?

To the notebook's own Google origin, the upload host it hands back, and the payment provider's public licence endpoint — nothing else. There is no author-controlled server, no proxy, no analytics. Settings, the licence key and the free-tier counter live in chrome.storage.sync. What Google says about privacy.

08Does it need an account?

No. There is no sign-up and no sign-in: the extension works inside the Google session you are already signed into, and a paid licence is a key you paste into the popup. Open NotebookLM once after installing so the notebook list is cached — a YouTube page cannot reach the notebook on its own.

09Does it work in Microsoft Edge?

Yes — it is published on Edge Add-ons as well as the Chrome Web Store, and the same build runs in any Chromium browser that takes Manifest V3 extensions. The Edge listing.

One click per archive, not one per source.
